Another iPhone picture- this one from the local Apple store! Dropped by this weekend while at the mall. They have this interesting display in the front window. The spheres come in a rainbow of colors, apparently all the colors that the new iPhone5 comes in. Groovy, man!
Welcome to our shared 365 photography project! We are a mother-daughter photography duo working to document a picture a day throughout 2013. We hope to alternate between mom and daughter shots via our Canon Rebel XSi, Canon Rebel XT, and iPod Touch cameras. Feel free to leave a comment if you like what you see!

Day #268- Breakwater
Another photo from last weekend's getaway. We walked almost a mile out on the breakwater to get to the lighthouse. As luck would have it, the lighthouse has been renovated and was open to the public. It first opened in the early 1900's. It's pretty amazing to think of the hard work that must have gone in to building it all! (Also continue to marvel at the quality of my iPhone for pictures!)

Day #267- Mini-Cairn
Delicately balanced, this cairn was likely built by several hikers. One portion of the trail must have contained over 60 single cairns like this one! A sign of the hiking community enjoying the trail!
Day #266- A-Choo!
I had a tough time finding goldenrod atop the mountain that hadn't partially succumbed to cool temperatures. This was one lovely yellow sprig! (Tissues, please!)
Day #265- Rockpile
Okay, so technically this isn't a "rockpile", but a cairn. We got some light hiking in this weekend too where we viewed this and other cairns. Cairns along hiking trails are often maintained by groups of hikers adding a stone when they pass. Building cairns along trails is quite popular. It’s also common for
hikers to add a stone to the top of the cairn as he/she passes by. Looks like quite a few people have passed by here!
Day #264- Schooners
More from the weekend getaway- these schooners have made their home here for decades. In the summer they go out on sails for a week at a time. One of these days I'll cross a week-long sail off the bucket list!

Day #263- Weathervane
When we arrived the fog was just burning off. Didn't leave for long, but I did have a chance to capture this brass weathervane glistening in the sun!
Day #262- Compass
Leaving the amphitheatre, we came upon this large (like 4 feet across) stone compass showing the cardinal directions. an inner greenish ring showed various types of weather (tornado, cyclone, scirocco, etc.). I am assuming the weather types are related to these cardinal directions???
Day #261- Amphitheatre
Walked up from the harbor to check out a nearby amphitheatre. When I was younger, they used to perform Shakespeare here in the summer.
Day #259- Crested Duck
There were several of these beautiful white crested ducks swimming around in the harbor yesterday. Had never seen one, and had to Google it. Turns out that Crested Ducks have this appearance because it is due to a genetic mutation causing a deformity of the skull. Interesting!
Day #258- Play Day
After a very challenging week at school, I really needed to have some rest and relaxation. My husband and I headed up to my "old stomping grounds" for the day for a "play day". Arrived at the waterfront where you could also view the mountain we climbed. (Fog did clear briefly.)

Day#257- Day of Remembrance
Last week, on 9/11, our town set up a moving tribute to some of the people lost on that fateful day in 2001. Still remember exactly where I was when I first heard.

Day #256 - Harbor
I had the pleasure of staying with a close relative, who just so happens to live near a harbor! I immediately thought of how pretty a picture I could take during sunset! What a picture I got! I love the pink sky with the purple looking clouds! So very cool!!

Day #255 - Colorful "Bow"
As I was inside doing homework, I looked outside, and to my surprise, I saw this big, beautiful rainbow! Luckily I caught a picture before it disappeared not even five minutes later!
Day #254 - Vines and More Vines
This is a very interesting building on campus. It is covered with vines!! Some of the windows are even covered over with these vines! You can barely see any of the brick. I wouldn't want to be in this building at night!
Day #253 - Blue Skies!
After it poured this morning, it cleared out very nicely, which brought in bright blue skies! The sky makes for great contrast in this picture!!
Day #252 - Hidden
The new adventures have begun for me at college! Today I had the chance to get out and look at some of the neat buildings (after the rain stopped of course!). I love how the trees keep this building kind of hidden!
Day #251- Grasshopper
Found myself a "macro moment" late last evening. As we were eating on our deck, I looked over to see this little guy climbing up the side of our house. I've actually seen quite a few of them lately. Am guessing they can sense the coming of colder temperatures. When I pulled up the shots taken with my macro lens I could see details like spots on (what I believe to be) his eyeballs. I could also see tiny hairs on his legs. I think I'd be "creeped out" if grasshoppers were much larger, but at this size they're interesting!
Day #248- Daisy
While shooting perennials at my friend's house, I couldn't resist the chance to capture her good dog, Daisy.

Day #246- Yellow
Not sure of the name of this perennial. Tried to find it online, but was unsuccessful. Very bright and cheery!
Day #245- Milkweed
I love the raindrop shape of milkweed pods. Still remember the Christmas decorations my mom made of these after they'd been dried and cleaned out...
Day #244- Fountain Grass
Not sure why this is called fountain grass- looks more like a fuzzy caterpillar to me! That said, fountain grass sure sounds more elegant!
Day #242- Sunflower
Still in my friend's garden- this sunflower was never intentionally planted. What a lovely surprise!
Day #241- Brilliant
One of my good friends has some awesome perennial gardens. After expressing frustration about needing to get "caught up" with the project365, she offered her gardens as a potential photo shoot. Decided to take her up on her offer. I wish I could remember the name of this flower, but love its brilliant, fiery colors!

Day #240- Fuchsia
Even though our flowers are slowly dwindling, our neighbors still have some lovely blooms. Snuck this shot over the weekend while cat-sitting!
