Day #239- Brown-Eyed Susan

The last day of August ushers in the end of summer. I don't have many flowers left in my garden beds to photograph. These hardy beauties are still lingering!

Day #238- Town Gardens

These beautiful rows of flowers are found in town. Love the varieties of colors and textures!

Day #237- All Aboard!

Have you ever envisioned a shot you'd like to capture? I've been waiting for a chance to film the local passenger train go flying past. I have a vision for what I'd like the shot to look like. It involves blur. This is not it, but it's a start! Be on the look-out for take #2! All aboard!

Day #236- Fire!

A local restaurant has a few of these torches out on its deck. Gives a summery touch for a few more weeks!

Day #235- Spectrum

It's Labor Day. To celebrate, our town officials hung flags along the main street. I noticed a variety of colors, both man-made and nature-made. The full spectrum!

Day #234- Horse Tails

We took our daughter to college today to begin her freshman year. In an effort to get "caught up" on our blog, I'll be posting several pictures each day for a while. Looks like I'm pretty much on my own here now! Loved these wispy clouds in the morning sky!

Day #233 - Pink

At first glance it may seem as though I edited this picture to make the pink really pop, but I didn't! This is a totally natural picture with some sharpness adjustments, as well as a little less "highlighting".

Day #232 - Concentration

I don't recall seeing anything interesting, but Graham sure did! The contrast in this photo is wonderful!

Day #231 - Drip!

I caught this drip just in time as it fell right off my fingers!

Day #230- Rusting Away

Came upon this old International yesterday, rusting away on the edge of a road. If only this truck could talk...

Day #229- Strawberries

I was really excited to find strawberries this fresh in grocery store yesterday. A clerk mentioned they came from Canada. Thanks, neighbors to the north!

Day #228- One Hour Barking

Okay... so I'm easily amused! (No, I don't own a red marker either.)

Day #227- Adaptation

These are a prime example of adaptation in nature- horse chestnuts that grow on trees down the street. I'm sure back in time there was a really good reason for the spikes on the outside!

Day #226 - Field of Flowers

I'm not quite sure what kind of flowers (or weeds) these are, but I thought it was a nice scene of so many white flowers, especially as the summer starts to wind down!

Day #225 - Winding Waters

This is a local river that leads to the ocean. As I arrived, there was quite a bit of hustle and bustle, and even a small boat navigating the waters!

Day #224 - Blacked Out

I was actually hoping for a picture of a moving fan, but while fooling with the manual settings on my camera, I shot this picture. I really like it, especially how it only shows part of the fan and light!

Day #223- Summer's Dwindling

The school year is fast approaching. Just a few more weekdays left to my summer job. I've been reminded this summer that no job is perfect- pros and cons to every occupation. It has been quite interesting, however, to glimpse another field!

Day #222- College Days

This year my husband and I begin the "empty nester" years, as both of our kids head (back) to college. It's exciting that they'll both be at the same school. Here's hoping they have a great school year!

Day #221- Back to School

Out on my lunch hour today, I was looking for some interesting architecture to shoot. This nearby building began as the local high school back in 1886. I think about how high school buildings (or any school building) has changed since then, both outside and inside. This building has been converted to apartments. What character is has, though!

Day #220 - The Rain Keeps Falling

As gloomy as rainy days can be, you can usually get some pretty cool shots of water droplets hanging onto many things, like this arm of a chair outside!

Day #219 - Quinoa

Quinoa is a very yummy food, especially mixed in with things like tomatoes, or salsa. However, it can also make a terrific photo, because of how it breaks apart and looks like small "curly cues".

Day #218- Loaded

I am not sure what type of flower this is, except that it might be in the daisy flower. I liked the bits of pollen sprinkled on the petals, though. Loaded with pollen!

Day #217 - It's That Time of Year!

It seems like just yesterday it was June! We picked up some local corn, which does in a way symbolize that summer is almost coming to an end.

Day #216 - Whirligig

Many of these eccentric whirligigs were set up at our local library. If you look closely, they are actually made from old bicycle wheels. It looks as though shoelaces are wrapped around the spokes! Pretty cool!

Day #215- Spooky

Second day in a row of thunderstorms. This time my daughter and I were out on a "photowalk". Not sure this shot does the clouds justice. They were the wispy kind that look just a tad bit spooky.

Day #214- Rainbow

Spent yesterday afternoon with extended family. The bad news- the party was broken up by a loud thunderstorm. The good news- heading out of town we witnessed this beautiful rainbow! The even better news- my new iPhone 4s takes pretty decent pictures!

Day #213 - Seeing Stripes

At first glance, it may seem as though the railing has black & white stripes painted, but in fact it is just the sun gleaming through!!
