Day #181 - Snoozy Kitty

I always knew cats slept for a while, but recently I heard that most cats sleep about 18 every day - leaving just 6 hours to do other activities. This picture is proof of this fact!

Day #180- White Lily

I managed to save a few of the lilies in my yard from the dreaded red beetles that defoliate Asian Lilies. This one was a pleasant sight!

Day #179 - Wet Flower

The summer has officially arrived, which calls for beautiful flowers, like this - that is, if the sun ever comes out!

Day #177 - What's Cookin'?

I haven't posted many photos of food, but as I was cooking a nice skillet full of vegetables, I thought they would make for a great photo. The bright green beans make for a very nice contrast with the potatoes.

Day #176- Day Lily

Finally finished weeding and mulching all my garden beds over the weekend. Now the day lilies in the remaining bed can thrive!

Day #175 - Lit Up!

A new type of keyboard for me! The backlit Macbook Pro keyboard is easy to see in the dark - and it looks pretty darn cool!

Day #174- Dark Iris

I am having this beetle infestation on my Asiatic Lilies. Every year these obnoxious little red beetles totally defoliate them (unless I use pesticide, which I'm not fond of). Fortunately, they stay clear of my irises. I love the dark tones in this variety, especially after a drenching rain.

Day #173 - Rock Words

 For my graduation party, my mom had an activity where my guests wrote a word or two that described me, and these are just a few of them!

Day #172- Trestle Reflections

My daughter and I went for a walk tonight along a local bike path. The path runs under this trestle, which has been a fixture in town since 1923. We saw a multitude of people out walking, running, biking, as well as other people along the river kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. It was a perfect evening for whatever outdoor recreation you can think of. Happy summer, everyone!

Day #171 - Cupola

I love the contrast between the brightness from the sun on the cupola, compared to that of the leaves!

Day #170- Irises

My neighbor has some beautiful irises by her little pond. It's aglow with green and yellow!

Day #169 - Captain

This past sports season, I was elected captain of my team, and to commemorate it, I received a "captain" pin. This bumps on this small pin really stand out and give the pin a little life to it!

Day #168- Gerbera Daisy

After a five day absence, we are finally back at posting! My daughter's graduation this last weekend required a lot of time and energy. It was a wonderful time, but left neither of us with time or energy to post pictures. 

This is one of the four flowers my daughter gave out to family at graduation during the "Flower Ceremony", when seniors recognize the support of family and friends throughout their K-12 school career by presenting them with a flower. (Grab the tissues, parents!) Ended up intentionally overexposing this shot, and I like the way it turned out. What do you think?

Day #163 - Lit Up!

Tonight's picture was taken with an iPod! This light in our house is very cool with the beads hanging down from it!

Day #162- All Eyes On Me!

Okay, so this is probably the most unusual, yet funniest gift I've ever gotten from a family or class. yesterday while I was in a grade level meeting, two of my moms came to school and enlisted the help of the kids to create this "custom vest" for me. It's adorned with the words, "All Eyes On Me- 2013" in silver glitter glue. And there are 16 styrofoam eyeballs velcro'ed all over the front of it! Apparently I say that to get my students' attention more than I realize. One of the mom's had this brainstorm when she was in volunteering one day this year. I'm hoping the vest has magnetic properties! (It will definitely get used NEXT year!)

Day #161 - A Spritz

 Sometimes you get a picture at just the right moment, just like this picture!

Day #160- Salvia

My daughter graduates from high school next weekend, and we are about to begin a fun but frenetic "Senior Week". We began sprucing up the house and dooryard in earnest this weekend. The old barrel planter finally got some color- salvia in three different shades. I have zero experience with this plant, but it looks low-maintenance. Here's hoping!

Day #159 - Color "Pop"

I have never had colored popcorn before, but today I tried it - it tasted like fruit loops! Very interesting and tasty!

Day #158- Field Day

Yesterday was Field Day, and what a beautiful day it was! At one point I looked up into the sky and saw these interesting clouds that almost looked like stairs. I'm sure there's an official meteorological term for them, but I just thought they were very intriguing!

Day #157 - Spiral

I love the look of the spiral phone cord and the "ombre" look as well! It makes for a neat photo!

Day #156- Pink Rose

Left my camera at school this afternoon. After I went back for it, I left the building and noticed the beautiful rose bushes in the parking lot across the street. I wish it was possible to photograph the wonderful, sweet smell they gave off. Reminds me of going to the beach!

Day #155 - Frail Rose

All beautiful things must eventually die. Roses are so beautiful, but die off way too quickly, but I must admit, they look pretty nifty when they start to go!

Day #154- Rhododendron

The rhododendron has finally bloomed! Poof!

Day #153 - Bunny in the Garden

Who's that hiding in the garden? We have these cute little bunnies throughout our garden! They add some much needed cuteness!
