Day #333 - Snowy Bike

I love the look of snow on this bike! I don't think anyone will be riding this bike in this weather! Scary!!

Day #332 - Snow is Falling!

A light storm brought snow, along with some awesome picture opportunities!

Day #331 - Snowman?

This snowman seems to be the only one around! I'm really hoping I will be able to take a picture of a real snowman soon!

Day #330 - Ornament

I may live in a dorm room, but that doesn't stop me from getting in the holiday spirit! I love the look of this ornament!

Day #329

As I came home, my town was decked out in Christmas decorations! It looks even more like Christmas with the snow! I love the repetition of the lights in this picture!

Day #328 - Dusting

It's beginning to look like Christmas! This dusting was very ironic, sitting upon Adirondack chairs. I sure won't be sitting in these for very long during the winter!

Day #327 - Stretched

With animals, you never know when they'll pose for a picture. Usually our cat does not pose, but he decided to model for me! What a handsome boy!

Day #326- Encased

Much of the plant life on the bank of the river had been totally encased in ice. Thanks, Mother Nature, for your frozen artwork!

Day #325- Tusks

As I walked down closer to the river, I noticed this rock dripping with icicles. Couldn't help thinking it looked like a walrus!

Day #324- Foamy

Went out this afternoon to try and get caught up on shots. The water at a local river was rushing down over. Tried using a slower shutter speed to obtain that "foamy" look of the falls.

Day #323- More Snowflakes

Am wondering what was going on in the clouds above to result in thin needle-like shapes, as well as small blobs that look like they may have once resembled your standard snowflake?

Day #322- Sprinkled

Looked out this morning to see some light snow falling. Ran and grabbed my macro lens to try and capture more snowflake shots. I love looking at the macro views- the detail in the shapes and sizes is so much more interesting!

Day #321- Squash

Tried to capture the steam coming off the bowl of squash. There's a bit there, but not what I was hoping for. On the "up side", it was the best squash I've had in years!

Day #320-Cranberry Bread

Tried some food photography at Thanksgiving. This was delicious Savory Cranberry Bread.

Day #319 - Wreath

While walking, I spotted this wreath, with no explanation of why it was placed there in the first place! I assumed it was there because of Veterans Day! I loved this even more, because it is almost that time of the year for wreaths!

Day #318 - Tug Boats

These Tug Boats were just sitting in the harbor with these very interesting yellow boxes on the back. Come to find out, they were going to be transported and placed in the bottom for submarines to dock on! Very interesting!

Day #317 - Fly Away!

I was originally taking a picture of the posts in the water, but then a seagull decided to make the picture and fly away. I caught him in mid-flight, luckily!

Day #316 - Posts

These posts must have been holding something up, quite a while ago! I love how they are covered with filth, except for the very tops!

Day #315 - Reflecting

This is one of my favorite pictures that I've taken! The boat was already pretty neat, but the squiggly reflection looks even cooler!

Day #314 - Mast

While visiting family, I walked near the harbor. Much to my surprise, I saw a very large mast, as you can see the comparison to a "normal" sized boat's mast to the right.

Day #313- Dappled

Shot this at school this week with my iPhone. I believe these could be altocumulus clouds decorating the sky?

Day #312- Bzzzzz

Yup- it's a wasp nest...hanging directly over the middle of our street. Funny what you'll find once the leaves drop!

Day #311- Berries

A close-up of the red berries. Am wondering if these might be from sumac.

Day #310- Autumn Estuary

A colorized view of the previous shot, however looking in a different direction. The red berries really stood out.

Day #309- Ocean Inlet

Went shopping with a friend last weekend. Believe it or not, this tranquil scene was just steps from a shopping mecca!

Day #308- Hiking Panorama

So this is my first panorama put together in Photoshop. I watched a quick how-to video, and was surprised how very easy it was! This is actually a 180˚ view at the summit of our hike yesterday, stitched into one panoramic shot. My husband is checking out the view below. It was a gorgeous day, and likely the last one of THAT caliber for months to come!

Day #307- Path in the Moss

Walking along the trail yesterday we came upon this path that had been worn to the ledge below, with moss on either side. Kind of a neat, little path!

Day #306- White Oak

Even though we're into November, there's still a little color left to be seen! On our hike yesterday we came across many species of trees we don't see as much of in the dooryard. Case in point, I believe these to be white oak leaves. I can't say, however, that they were on a "tree". More like a scrubby bush closer to the summit of the mountain we hiked. I liked the smattering of colors in the light of the sun!

Day #305- Water Stop

Did some more hiking this weekend. On the way, drove along a road we'd never been on before, and saw this awesome old water tower. Instinctively, I expected there had to be railroad tracks nearby, and sure enough we spotted some just down the road! Although I probably should have, I'd never quite put together why the water towers were often near tracks. So I did a quick Internet search and discovered that they were called "water stops", originating with steam engines and the frequent need to replenish water. I even found out that some isolated water stops were favorite ambush spots for train robbers. Hopefully this was a peaceful water stop!

Day #304 - Twinkling Lights

I love how in this picture, there's one light in focus and get blurrier as you go to the left! It's getting to be that time!

Day #303- Grinning

Last of the acceptable shots from the pumpkin festival. This one was actually my favorite! Happy Halloween!

Day #302- Hearts to You

I was experimenting with some different styles at the pumpkin festival this weekend. This was actually a "tower" of electrified pumpkins, all carved with hearts. Looked a bit like the hearts were flowing out!

Day #301- Jack-O-Lanterns

Last weekend there was a nearby pumpkin festival, for which our school contributed a number of jack-o-lanterns. We didn't carve these, but I loved the unusual way they were designed!

Day #300- Summit

It was a little hazy looking out over the summit, but plenty of mountains in whichever direction we looked. This is a shot of my husband looking northward.

Day #299- Rock Face

As we looked over to another nearby summit, the red berries we saw everywhere (we're now thinking Mountain Ash), and the tall spruce framed a steep rock face. If you look really closely, there were people on that summit enjoying the view!

Day #298- Igneous?

On our hike last weekend, found this interesting rock on the summit. Lots of granite up there. And then there was this. Looked like it had been heated up at some point with its swirls.

Day #297- Mountaintop

A view from the summit last weekend. This was one of the many neighboring mountains. Notice the spruce to the left laden with cones. Also, if you look carefully, the red berries that I posted earlier this week dot the mountainside.

Day #296- Cracked

Another shot from hiking last weekend. Great place for all kinds of "goodies" to fall into!

Day #295- Red Berries

Okay, I need some help here. On our hike Saturday we saw small trees (large bushes?) that had lost their leaves, however had bunches of these brilliant red berries. They were further up in elevation, near the summit. No clue what type...

Day #294- Bright Red With Anxiety

Every fall I read my class Charlotte's Web. I've probably read it over 20 times by now! As we were hiking this weekend I shot this red maple leaf. Instantly recalled the line from the book describing the coming of fall- "A little maple tree in the swamp heard the cricket song and turned bright red with anxiety."

Day #293- Floating

Still a few lonely red leaves to be found on Saturday's hike. This one was floating in one of the streams.

Day #292- Morning Moon

Looked out in the other direction at camp just before breakfast to see the full moon setting behind the mountain. Unfortunately, those darned trees obscured it quite a bit. There was no way for me to get to a better vantage point before it totally set.

Day #291- Morning Pastels

Headed up to camp this weekend. Yesterday morning I walked out early to be greeted by a variety of pastel shades in the sky.

Day #290- Dappled

This has got to be the last maple in our yard yet to fully change color. Still mostly green, but dappled with yellows and oranges!

Day #289- Crimson Mums

I know there is likely a name of this variety of mum. Didn't pay attention when I bought it a few weeks ago. Happy is hasn't succumbed to the cold night temperatures!

Day #288- More Kale

My daughter posted another shot of this same kale plant last week. Decided to attempt a different angle!

Day #287- River Reflections

We are currently "past peak" here, although last weekend shot what turned out to be a "reflective" shot at a nearby river. Again, pleased with the quality of my iPhone!

Day #286 - Fallen Leaves

I love the look of the fallen leaves upon the driveway, here!

Day #285 - Kale

Recently, we got a kale plant. I had never seen one, but I love the bright colors of green and purple! It looks absolutely stunning!

Day #284 - Mums

It's that time of the year! Everything else seems to be dying, but these Mums are far from that! They have all bloomed and look beautiful!
